Hello and Shalom, My name is Simon Shimshon Rubin, and I am a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Haifa. My colleagues and I have devoted many years to deepening our understanding of loss and bereavement. Even now, there is much left to learn about the process of losing someone close and its impact over time on family and community. The present study of the International Laboratory for the Study of Loss, Bereavement & Human Resilience enables those who have experienced personal loss to complete a number of different questionnaires and to receive general feedback assessing their response to bereavement in their own lives. Of course, this feedback does not constitute a psychological or medical evaluation. Nonetheless, it does reflect how the respondent compares to others who have lost someone dear to them. Losing a loved one is a difficult event for everyone, but the ways of dealing with such an event are many and varied. We hope that with your help and with a little of your time, we can gather valuable information that will help us deepen our understanding of the experience of loss and develop tailored and healthier coping methods for those who will experience loss in the future. The information we can obtain with your help will make a practical contribution to others. Not only the bereaved, but also those people who work in the field of mental health and counseling will be able to learn more about this human experience.
